Outdoor Recreation and Community Uses

We’re excited that this space will continue to serve as a vibrant community hub for outdoor recreation and gathering. The Marin County Fire Department and Marin County Parks have a strong, ongoing partnership and will continue working together to ensure that trails, open space access, and community benefits across the Commons are maintained and enhanced for generations to enjoy. The San Geronimo Commons supports a wide range of activities, including…

  • Walking

  • Hiking

  • On-leash dog walking

  • Equestrian use

  • Cycling and Mountain Biking

  • Safe Routes to School

  • Community Events

Connectivity throughout the Commons

The Commons function as a vital connective tissue within the larger landscape, linking trail systems, recreational spaces, and wildlife habitat. They provide connections for people to move through the valley on foot, bike, or horseback, while also supporting ecological health.

Please scroll through the gallery of maps and diagrams to explore trail connections, community destinations, wildlife corridors, and habitat areas throughout the Commons.

What will happen to public access during construction?

Some access impacts are likely during construction, but specific details are not yet known. The County and the selected contractor will work to minimize disruptions. Community garden users will receive specific guidance to maintain access as safely as possible.
