Board Approves Progressive Design-Build Contract for New Marin Fire Headquarters in San Geronimo
The Marin County Board of Supervisors approved a Phase 1 progressive design-build contract for the new Marin County Fire Department Headquarters and Fire Station at San Geronimo Commons, awarding the contract to McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. and COAR Design Group on July 7. This milestone advances the project into the design and preconstruction phase. The new facility will replace the Woodacre station with modern fire operations, updated safety systems, expanded fleet and equipment space, and inclusive living quarters.

On February 10, 2026 the Board of Supervisors at their regular meeting will receive an update on the Marin County Fire Headquarters Project, including progress to date and an overview of the proposed Progressive Design-Build (PDB) entity selection process. The PDB delivery method is intended to support early collaboration, cost transparency, and proactive risk management for this complex public safety facility.
